Sharks sign enforcer Stern
SAN JOSE - The San Jose Sharks signed free agent right wing Ron Stern to a one-year contract, the team announced Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Stern, 31, had seven goals, 17 points and 157 penalty minutes in 1996-97 with the Calgary Flames. He missed all of last season with a knee injury. In 493 career games with Calgary and Vancouver, Stern has 64 goals, 136 points and 1,768 penalty minutes.
