Tues. Nov. 10, 1998.
CHICAGO - Roman Vopat continued his odyssey across the NHL on Tuesday as Colorado sent him to the Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Cam Russell and a sixth-round draft pick. The 22-year-old Vopat was traded from the Kings to the Avalanche on Oct. 29, but did not play a game for Colorado. Part of the trade that sent Wayne Gretzky to the Blues in 1997, the 6-3, 223-pound Vopat began his career with St. Louis and has six goals and 11 assists in 82 games over his career. The 29-year-old Russell has 10 penalty minutes in seven games this season. Over 361 career games, Russell has eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points with 788 penalty minutes.
