Thursday, October 22, 1998
CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Blackhawks signed right wing-defenceman Dennis Bonvie to a one-year contract Wednesday. Bonvie had been claimed off the Edmonton Oilers' unprotected list during this month's waiver draft.
The five-foot-11 205-pound Bonvie will report to Portland of the AHL for conditioning. Bonvie played in parts of three seasons with the Oilers, appearing in a total of 14 games without scoring.
While playing for Hamilton in the 1996-97 season, Bonvie led the AHL with 522 penalty minutes.
