Stars sign left wing Severyn
IRVING, Texas - The Stars picked up some brawn on the wing Wed. Aug. 26, 1998, signing rugged free agent Brent Severyn to a one-year contract. Severyn, 32, played his sixth season in the NHL last year with the Mighty Ducks, recording one goal and three assists in 37 games. He notched 133 penalty minutes despite missing 32 games with a herniated disk in his back. Known more for hitting than scoring, Severyn will provide depth and a physical presence for the club, Stars general manager Bob Gainey said.
