Kings LW Johnson suspended
Fri. Nov. 20, 1998.

NEW YORK- Los Angeles Kings left wing Matt Johnson was suspended Friday, pending a hearing, for receiving a match penalty in Thursday night's 5-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Johnson was penalized for intent-to-injure after punching Rangers defenseman Jeff Beukeboom in the head from behind with 7:21 left in the third period. Beukeboom sustained a possible concussion after falling to the ice. On Monday, Johnson will attend a hearing in New York before Colin Campbell, NHL senior vice president and director of hockey operations. Johnson has one goal and 49 penalty minutes in 16 games. He will miss at least Saturday's game against Chicago.
