Oilers D Brown suspended
Friday, Nov. 13, 1998.
NEW YORK - Edmonton Oilers defenseman Sean Brown was suspended three games and fined $1,000 by the NHL Friday for a high-sticking incident involving Ottawa Senators right wing Daniel Alfredsson during Thursday's 1-1 tie. Brown high-sticked Alfredsson with 66 seconds remaining in the second period and was assessed a double minor. Alfredsson suffered a cut underneath his right eye and will be sidelined for at least five days. "Brown swung his stick at his opponent's head in a careless, dangerous manner," said NHL senior vice president and director of hockey operations Colin Campbell.
